Dr. Rai received his training under the able guidance of stalwarts of Orthopaedics, PadmaVibhushan Late Dr Balu Sankaran, and Dr Mathew Varghese, at the prestigious St Stephens Hospital, Delhi from 2004 to 2010. For the next 1 year, he worked under Dr Deepak Chaudhary at Sports Injury Center, Safadarjung Hospital, Delhi, a centre of excellence boasting of doing maximum number of knee and shoulder arthroscopies.
Dr. Rai was born and brought up in Varanasi and possesses an illustrious academic record of passing all entrance and course exams in maiden attempt and first division. He has presented numerous papers on bone and joint tuberculosis at various National and International podiums. He is the only orthopaedic surgeon holding the DipSICOT, awarded by the International Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatolgy, Belgium after a three stage rigourous examination given by Orthopaedic surgeons of various countries.
